[EN] A 2 frame mosaic taken with the ASI533 MC Pro and the Optolong L-Extreme filter. Each frame consists of around 2,5 hours integration time.
The Veil Nebula is a diffuse nebula located in the northern constellation Cygnus, the Swan. It constitutes the visible parts of the Cygnus Loop, a supernova remnant in Cygnus. It is located at an approximate distance of 1,470 light years from Earth. Different regions of the Veil Nebula have different nicknames. The Western Veil Nebula (still collecting data for this one) is also known as the Witch’s Broom , while the Eastern Veil (this image) is sometimes called the Network Nebula.

[NL] Een mozaïek van 2 frames gemaakt met de ASI533 MC Pro en de Optolong L-Extreme filter. Elk frame bestaat uit ongeveer 2,5 uur integratietijd.
De Sluiernevel is een diffuse nevel in het noordelijke sterrenbeeld Cygnus, de Zwaan. Het vormt de zichtbare delen van de Cygnus Loop, een supernovarest in Cygnus. Het bevindt zich op een afstand van ongeveer 1470 lichtjaar van de aarde. Verschillende regio's van de Sluiernevel hebben verschillende bijnamen. De Westelijke Sluiernevel (ik ben hiervoor nog data aan ’t verzamelen) staat ook bekend als de Heksenbezem, terwijl de Oostelijke Sluier (deze afbeelding) soms de Netwerknevel wordt genoemd.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.

Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
